groups as racial criteria.<br \/>(iii) Racial classification, distinctive physical features and geographical distribution of the major racial groups of man: Caucasoid, Mongoloid, Negroid andAustraloid.<\/p>\r\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unit-2\"><\/span><strong>Unit-2<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Prehistoric_Archaeology\"><\/span><strong>Prehistoric Archaeology:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n<p>(i) Tool Making: Techniques of manufacturing core and flake tools, primary and secondary flaking, pressure flaking, grinding and polishing.Materials used in making prehistoric tools.<br \/>(ii) Tool families: Pebble tools, Hand axe, Cleaver, Scrapers, Microliths, Points, Blades, Awl, Graver, Celts, Sickles, Spear-head, Arrow-head and Bone tools.<br \/>(iii) Prehistoric Cultures: A brief outline of the following prehistoric cultures of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic periods.<br \/>(iv) A comparative study of the salient features of Paleolithic and Neolithic cultures.<\/p>\r\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unit-3\"><\/span><strong>Unit-3<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Material_culture_and_economic_anthropology\"><\/span><strong>Material culture and economic anthropology :<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n<p>(i) Economic life: meaning and aspects, characteristic features of primitive or simple economic system.<br \/>(ii) Subsistence economy: domestication of animals- pastoralism, agriculture shifting cultivation, horticulture, terrace cultivation and plough cultivation.<br \/>(iii) Brief outline of the methods of hunting, fishing and agriculture with reference to Various communities of North East India as far as practicable.<\/p>\r\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unit-4\"><\/span><strong>Unit-4<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Social_Anthropology_and_Ethnography\"><\/span><strong>Social Anthropology and Ethnography:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>A: Social Anthropology :<\/strong><br \/>(i) Family: Definition, forms, and types: nuclear family, joint family, a family of orientation, a family of procreation, monogamous and polygamous(polygynous and polyandrous).<br \/>(ii) Clustered relationship in a nuclear family.<br \/>(iii) Rules of residence: Patrilocal, matrilocal, neolocal, avancolocal, bilocal, matripatrilocal.
