IIT – Why The Hype Around It?
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is known for its world class infrastructure, academic excellence, cutting-edge research, updated and modernised course curriculum, competitive entrance exam and rigorous selection process. Also, the placement opportunities is another factor that draws engineering candidates to focus on IITs. Many become entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry leaders. Not all candidates who qualify JEE Main are eligible for JEE Advanced. Only the top 2,50,000 candidates can apply and appear in JEE Advanced.
Step 3: Clear JEE Advanced
JEE Advanced consists of three sections like JEE Mains – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates who clear the IIT cutoff are eligible for admission.
Step 4: Attend JoSAA Counselling
Based on the AIR obtained in JEE Advanced, students participate in JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling. Here, they can select their preferred IIT and branch based on their rank and availability of seats.
IIT Eligibility Criteria – JEE Main and JEE Advanced
In order to meet the JEE Main eligibility criteria, candidates must complete Class 12 with 75% marks in aggregate for general, OBC and EWS categories and 65% marks for reserved categories with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects for BE/B.Tech admission. In case, you are one among the top 20 percentile in Class 12th, you become eligible for JEE Mains.
JEE Advanced eligibility criteria is as follows:
