CLAT 2027 Eligibility: A Comprehensive Overview

The qualification criteria for CLAT 2027 is different for UG (BA LL.B, BBA LL.B) and PG (LL.M) programs. For UG , students must have passed Class 12 or must be appearing in Class 12th, but for PG, students must have an LL.B degree. There is no upper age limit to appear in the CLAT exam.

CLAT 2027 Eligibility for UG Program (BA LL.B, BBA LL.B)

The CLAT UG exam is conducted for 5-year integrated programs like BA LL.B, BBA LL.B, B.Sc LL.B, etc.

Educational Qualification:

  • Students must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.

Marks Required:

  • General/OBC/PwD/NRI/PIO/OCI: 45% aggregate
  • SC/ST: 40% aggregate

Other qualifications: Candidates who are appearing in Class 12 in 2026-27 are eligible provided they will provide proof of passing when they are admitted.

CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria for Post Graduate Program (LL.M) 

CLAT PG is for admission to post graduate law programs (LL.M) at the participating NLUs. 

Educational Qualification: 

  • Candidates must have an LL.B degree (3-year or 5-year) or an equivalent law degree from a recognized institution. 

Minimum Marks: 

  • General/OBC: 50% in total 
  • SC/ST: 45% in total. 

Other Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Final year LL.B candidates can also apply, but they will need to provide proof of qualifying when they enroll.

Age Limit for CLAT 2027 

  • There is no upper age restriction for either UG or PG programs under CLAT 2027. This allows candidates of any age to apply, given that they meet the eligibility based on qualifications. 

Eligibility for Appearing Candidates 

  • Students who are appearing for Class 12 (UG) or those appearing for final-year LL.B (PG) are eligible to apply; however, they will only be offered admission once they provide proof of passing the qualifying examination. 

CLAT 2027: Eligibility Based on Nationality and Category

  • Indian Nationals are eligible for all seats available under CLAT. 
  • NRI/PIO/OCI candidates are also eligible for certain categories (subject to NLU). 
  • NLUs specifically reserve seats for NRI/Foreign Nationals, which may have an admission process of their own.
