In a recent discussion with an iQuanta topper, Anuj Kumar, who scored 99.68 percentile in the CAT 2025 exam, we sat down to discuss the ups and downs during his journey. Mr. Praneet Jain, the associate director of CX Strategy and Flipkart hosted the iQuanta’s CAT Toppers Meet 2026 held on February 21, 2026. During this event, Anuj Kumar shared his CAT section-wise scores which are 99.68 percentile in CAT overall and a 99.98 in QA. The outcome of his hard work and dedicated preparation strategy is visible from his scores.
While praising him for the achievement, Mr. Praneet Jain asked about how difficult it was to get a high score, focusing on the lows he must have hit during his CAT preparation journey. Sharing his struggle, Anuj, who is now known as the iQuanta Topper, revealed that he remembers a time when he scored merely 9 marks in VARC in a mock test. LRDI for Anuj seemed manageable and he was able to score sufficient marks in mock tests. But, he recalls, in the QA section, in one of the mock tests, he scored just 11 marks.

How Anuj Went From 9 Marks in VARC to 99.98%ile in CAT
When discussing the moments when he scored really low marks in mocks, for example 9 in VARC or 11 in QA, he says the entire process leading to 99.98%ile in actual CAT was a great experience. Mr Praneet Jain then posed the question on what it felt like when he scored low marks in mocks or what were the thoughts going on in his mind during such a difficult struggling phase.
- He took help of iQuanta YouTube live videos by Raj sir.
- Self-disciplined his mind and aligned his efforts towards one goal: keep working.
- He followed the saying by Raj Sir, ‘Put your head down and work’
- He understood the guidance that ‘Hardwork is all you can do’.
- During his low scoring phase, Anuj replayed iQuanta’s live YouTube videos to stay motivated.
- He followed the words of his mentor and kept working hard despite low mock scores.
How to Overcome the Guilt of Low CAT Mock Test Scores
Another interesting question was posed before Anuj, how did he overcome the guilt of low scores or what did he do to get out of such a situation? First, he felt low, he felt that he was in a bad situation but then something happened as he was iQuanta’s student, he would get this message on WhatsApp, ‘Practice Session at a scheduled time’. With this message, he would push himself harder to take the session and practice.
- He practiced the ‘8 questions in 40 minutes’ session that was conducted by Indrajeet Sir, founder and CEO of iQuanta.
- He decided to take the test and if he felt like taking a break after it, he would do that or study after the test depending on how the day unfolded.
- The practice sessions of iQuanta helped Anuj build consistency. You can take the practice sessions yourself to build consistency like Anuj and score 99+ percentile in CAT 2026.
Importance of Showing Up in Your CAT Prep
Even on bad days when you are feeling down because of low mock scores, it is important to show up, says Anuj. Consistency is the most important element to build strong practices which will help you succeed in the CAT exam. Anuj further breaks down the idea of consistency when it comes to CAT preparation. This is what he means when he talks about the importance of showing up in your CAT prep.
- You have to develop the habit of showing up even when you don’t feel like it.
- Showing up every day translates into consistency.
- Sincere CAT preparation demands consistency.
- Even if you study for 2-4 hours a day, you have to remain consistent.
iQuanta Gave Me Sufficient Material to Study
Anuj says that mid-night classes for working professionals gave him flexibility to learn at night even though he was not a working professional, the timing and ease of access helped him revise CAT concepts at convenient times. Another session which ran its course during his prep was iQuanta’s CAT before CAT which helped him train his mind for the actual CAT exam.
Anuj showed deep appreciation and thanked the teachers of iQuanta for providing these two invaluable resources which shaped 60-70% of his CAT preparation strategy.
- Live Classes
- Application Classes
CAT Topper’s Strategy for Scoring 99+ Percentile

Here is the algorithm or strategy which Anuj followed to avoid time wastage when prepping for the CAT exam last year.
