The CEED entrance exam (Common Entrance Examination for Design) is a national level test conducted by IIT Bombay to assess a candidate’s aptitude for design, innovation, and creativity. In 2025, there are 8 top-tier CEED accepting colleges: IIT Bombay. IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IIT Jodhpur, and IISc Bangalore. These top institutes offer around 302 seats in Master of Design (M.Des) programs, along with Ph.D. programs in Design, making it a highly competitive and sought-after admission pathway for aspiring designers.

These institutes offer a wide range of cutting-edge design specializations, including Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, Animation, and User Experience Design. The CEED seat intake differs for each institutions, with IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur offering the higher number of seats approx 78 each, while IISc Bangalore offers 18 seats focused on research-intensive product design. CEED Accepting Colleges Fee Structure

The CEED accepting colleges are classified into two types: participating institutes and result-sharing institutes. Generally, participating institutes have subsidized fees and participate in a centralized admission process. On the other hand, result sharing institutes may have higher fees and conducts an independent admission process. CEED Admission Process

After appearing for CEED entrance exam, candidates must prepare for CEED admission process. This involves following steps:

  1. Qualify the CEED exam: Candidates must check their CEED result on the official website www.ceed.iitb.ac.in and must secure a valid score for further admission process for CEED accepting collges.
  2. Apply to CEED accepting colleges: Unlike other entrance exams, CEED does not have centralized counselling process. Candidates needs to apply separately to each participating and result sharing institutes. 
  3. Institute-specific selection process: Each institute may have its own selection process which includes—Portfolio Review, Personal Interview, and Written Examination.
  4. Final Admission Offer: Based on the candidate’s CEED score and performance in the institute-specific selection process, candidates will receive the admission offer.
