Both CLAT UG and PG exams have their own syllabus. CLAT 2026 Syllabus – Section-Wise

Mainly the CLAT syllabus consists of five sections such as english language, current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative Techniques. Check below the section wise breakdown of the CLAT 2026 syllabus to enhance the preparation level. 

English Language

This section consists of topics such as reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and sentence structure. Reading comprehension will consist of passages of 450 to 500 words. Questions will be based on the main idea of the passage, inference and conclusion based, vocabulary in context, summary or paraphrasing. The vocabulary section will consist of synonyms, antonyms, sentence usage, and fill in the blanks. In the grammar section the candidates are required to answer topics on spotting errors, sentence arrangement, sentence correction, and improvement. 

Current Affairs including GK

Topics will be included such as national and international events, important government schemes, awards and honours, sports events and achievements, science and technology developments, etc. This section also consists of static general topics such as Indian history, Indian politics, economics, geography. 

This section will includes topics such as principle of law, application based scenarios, legal awareness and current issues. For this section the candidates are required to study the basics, practice solving case based questions from previous year CLAT papers, the candidates must keep themselves updated with legal developments. 

Logical Reasoning

This section enhances the candidate’s ability in order to analyse the arguments and solve logical puzzles easily. This section will cover topics from critical reasoning, analytical reasoning, logical sequences, etc. In order to ace this section, the candidates must solve reasoning questions from different books, practice puzzles, critical reasoning exercises, etc. 

Quantitative Techniques

This section tests the candidates numerical interpretation and mathematical skills. This section consists of topics such as Arithmetic, and data interpretation with main subjects as profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time, speed and distance, averages, number system, ratio and proportion, bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, tables, data sufficiency.

The CLAT syllabus for English language will consist of 3 to 4 passages taken
