As per the latest cutoff released by IIM Ahmedabad the cutoff for CAT 2025 has increased. IIM Ahmedabad CAT cutoff for the general category until last year was 85 percentile and this year there has been a drastic increase in the cutoff. IIM Ahmedabad CAT cutoff 2025 is 95 percentile for the general/EWS category. The cutoff for the reserved category has also increased. The latest IIMA cutoff for OBC category is 90 percentile, whereas the cutoff for the SC and ST category is 85 and 75 percentile, respectively. The sudden increase in the cutoff of IIM Ahmedabad means that now students with a good profile won’t get much benefit and the chances of admission decreases.

High Competition Among Aspirants, Few Will Meet the Qualifying Cutoff
As the cutoff has increased there will be more competition amongst CAT aspirants as students will now aim to score more percentile. As the qualifying CAT cutoff of IIM Ahmedabad has increased the number of shortlisted candidates will decrease.
Relaxation to GEM Profiles
Earlier GEM profiles even after having a 99+ percentile in CAT could not make it to IIM Ahmedabad as they did not have a good profile. But now with the increased CAT cutoff their chances of getting admission will increase.
No More Advantage to Candidates With Good Profile
Earlier students with a good profile and a bit less percentile ranging between 88-90 percentile could make it to IIM A but now inspite of having a good profile they have to secure a high percentile in CAT. Earlier a good profile had a prominent weightage in the final selection at IIM Ahmedabad.
Less Relaxation to the Reserved Category
IIM Ahmedabad cutoff for reserved category has also increased. Therefore, the competition amongst the reserved category will also increase. This means more meritorious candidates will be shortlisted. IIM Ahmedabad CAT cutoff for OBC is 90, SC is 85 and ST is 75.
Sectionals Are More Important Now
As the sectional cutoff has also increased, CAT aspirants now have to prepare more strategically for each section. They have to ensure that they are well prepared for each section. For general category if a candidate scores less than 85 percentile in any of the sections then he/she automatically will get rejected.
Competition Will be Less in Interview
As there will be less students who will meet the qualifying cutoff as the cutoff has increased the competition in the final interview will be less.
Academic Diversity
Earlier academic diversity was a main focus but this will get impacted as even a candidates from arts, fashion, etc background will now have to secure a high percentile.
