The state government of Maharashtra has announced the satellite campus of IIM Nagpur and granted a 70 acre land at Moshi in Pimpri-Chinchwad on August 28, 2025. Pune, one of the top most academic and industrial hubs, will now have an IIM campus as well. This will make management education more accessible to the students. India currently has 21 operational IIMs with Maharashtra already having 2 IIMs – IIM Mumbai and IIM Nagpur and now a third campus is expected to operate soon. IIM Nagpur New Satellite Campus Highlights
- On August 28, 2025, the Government of Maharashtra approved the establishment of IIM Nagpur’s new satellite campus at Moshi in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
- 70 acres of land has been granted for the new IIM campus.
- The campus will become operational in the next 24 to 30 months.
- This has been done to solidify management education in Pune.
- The campus will offer a flagship programme in Data Science and this will be the first IIM to roll out a flagship programme outside the main campus.
Why Was Pune Chosen to Set Up A Satellite Campus of IIM Nagpur?
The director of IIM Nagpur Bhimaraya Metri said that Pune was chosen as the location because it is amongst the top five IT hubs in India. The new campus will have all infrastructural facilities such as an incubation centre and more.
