Aditya Prasad is a CAT topper who secured an amazing 99.63%ile and his journey of getting admission in B-School began when he was in third year of Engineering. According to the educational background, Aditya has done B.Tech. He got placed in a core manufacturing company that is NBC Bearings as a Production Engineer. In the first attempt, he got 97.5 percentile and had applied only for top 6 IIMs but did not get a call from any of these colleges and later got interview call from NITIE Mumbai. Aditya has decided to go for another try to CAT but this time with better preparation and started taking iQuanta’s sessions. CAT topper Aditya’s journey for getting admission in B-school began when he was in his third year of engineering. There was a seminar conducted by his seniors regarding the future possibilities after B.Tech. That day after having a lot of thoughts Aditya felt that MBA from a premier B-school is what he want. Then came the placement season in college’s 7th semester and he got placed in a core manufacturing company i.e, NBC Bearings. Soon his other friends too got placed and had an awesome final year of college and somehow the dream of cracking CAT took a back seat, though it still was his dream.
Then in July he started working as a Production Engineer. He started preparing for CAT by mid- August and got 97.5 percentile in CAT. Aditya had applied only for top 6 IIMs and so he didn’t get a call from any of these colleges. Later got interview call from NITIE Mumbai but he didn’t go for it fortunately because he had decided to give another try to CAT with better preparation this time.
Aditya’s work required him to work in different shifts every week. So, joining a coaching institute was only option left for him. He was frequently travelling from Jaipur to Delhi and also within Delhi metro (to such an extent that now he can guide people on which metro lines to take for reaching their destination). This was a phase that was a lot tiring both physically and mentally. But, it’s all worth the feeling of getting into your dream B-school. He have just a few things to say to all those who wish to crack CAT and get into a B-school. Firstly, never give up on your dreams. Everyone is bound to face hurdles during lives. It is how we face them that will decide our fate. Secondly, it is never too late and never too early to begin preparing for CAT. Third and most importantly have faith in yourself and your abilities.
There were days when Aditya felt completely drained, balancing work and studies wasn’t just hard, it was exhausting. What pushed him forward was the hope that it would all pay off in the end. He didn’t have a perfect routine or endless hours to prepare, but he made the most of what he had. His schedule was not perfect and he didn’t have a lot of time, but he used whatever time he got. And slowly, things started falling into place. This journey taught him that you don’t need to be extraordinary to achieve something big you just need to keep showing up, even on the tough days.
