CAT Topper Introduction, Academic Background, & CAT %ile

Hello everyone, my name is Raghvendra Pratap Singh. Currently, I am a final year Civil Engineering student from VNIT Nagpur. I secured 99.65 percentile in CAT 2024.

VNIT Nagpur is having a rigorous curriculum, how you managed your CAT preparation while studying ?

I enrolled for iQuanta CAT course in January 2024, that time I was in 6th semester. I watched few lectures at that time but due to academic stress I was not able to complete the live lectures.

At that time I decided to first complete my 6th semester, and later on while my summer internship, I started watching the lectures and application classes. In my 7th semester i.e my final year, I enrolled for placements and in the first week itself I got placed which really helped me out for my CAT preparation.

I handled projects, club activities, and also the CAT classes as well. During last 30 days left for CAT, I focused on giving Mocks each day and did analysis of it which turned to be a strategic move from my end.

How much time you spent for Mock analysis?

iQuanta gives platform where students can go through the AI mock analysis, it didn’t take much time as I know in which section I am weak, and where to look first for the analysis.

I was aware that my VARC is weak, so I have gone through the points where I was lacking first. My Quant section was the strongest, hence doing the analysis became easy due to iQuanta’s AI mock analysis.

iQuanta provides a module called Engineers VARC, have you gone through that ?

Yes, I have gone through the Engineers VARC. It comes up with strategies for each part, category-wise RC solutions, that was pretty nice and helped me alot to improve my weaker sections.

Did you faced any hurdle while preparing for CAT & How did you overcome it ?

Initially I was not able to score well in mocks due to which my confidence was bit shattered because being good in Quant and LRDI, my score was not satisfactory. My self confidence was lacking somewhere, but mocks really helpd me out in gaining my confidence and I scored well in CAT exam.

I’ll share one of my experience of giving mocks, before CAT exam on 19th November (just 5 days before CAT), I gave mock  and scored 41 marks in it. I was surprised to see the results because only 5 days were left for CAT exam. I gave another mock after 2 days, in which I scored 110 marks. Finally, D-day arrived and I managed to score 96.32 percentile in CAT 2024. So this is my journey from 41 to 110 marks and then 99.65 %ile.

I want to share this every CAT aspirant out there, that if you score less in mocks it doesn’t mean you will score less in main exam as well. Mocks varies from difficult to moderate to easy, so analyze it properly and learn from your mistakes. Your score in Mock do not determine the kind of score that you’ll get in the real CAT exam, so just keep practicing and being consistent.

Support System: iQuanta’s Role

Raghvendra credits much of his success to iQuanta’s structured ecosystem and Abhishek Leela Pandey Sir who helped demystify Quants through relatable analogies. He revisited recorded sessions at 2x speed to revise effectively.

More than just a coaching platform, iQuanta’s peer group and constant engagement gave him the edge to stay in touch with the syllabus without burnout.

Raghvendra’s transformation from scoring 41 in a mock to a 99.65%ile scorer in CAT is not just inspiring—it’s instructional. It shows that anyone can turn the tide with the right mix of strategy, discipline, and mentorship. If you’re struggling with low mock scores or wavering consistency, remember: the game isn’t over until you decide it is. Just like Raghvendra, your turning point could be one decision away.
