JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility criteria for JEE Registration 2026 are as follows

Age LimitNo age limit. Candidates must have passed Class 12 in 2024, 2025, or be appearing in 2026.

Subjects in Qualifying ExamYou must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a technical Vocational subject.
Minimum Marks in Qualifying ExamNo minimum % required for JEE Main. However, for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, 75% marks in Class 12 (or top 20 percentile) is mandatory (65% for SC/ST).
Number of Attempts AllowedA candidate can appear in JEE Main for 3 consecutive years, with 2 attempts each year (January & April sessions).
Eligibility for Admission in NITs, IIITs, CFTIsMust have secured 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in Class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile of the board.

How to Fill the JEE Main 2026 Application Form

Filling out the JEE registration 2026 correctly is crucial for successful registration. Follow these steps to avoid errors and ensure a smooth application process.

Step 1: Visit the Official Website: Go to the official NTA JEE Main website: https://jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Step 2: Register as a New Candidate

  1. Click on “New Registration”
  2. Read the instructions carefully and click on “Click Here to Proceed”.
  3. Enter the required basic details:
    1. Candidate’s Name
    2. Date of Birth
    3. Mobile Numbers
    4. Email ID
    5. Security pin
  4. Set a password and security question for login
  5. Submit and note down the Application Number generated.

Step 3: Fill the Application Form

  1. Login with your Application Number and Password.
  2. Enter academic, personal and contact details
  3. Choose exam cities in order of preference (4 cities)
  4. Select the session (January/ April)
  5. Enter the medium of question paper (language preference)

Step 4: Upload Scanned Documents

  1. Upload the following documents in the prescribed format:
    1. Passport-size photograph (10kb- 200kb)
    2. Signature (4 kb- 30 kb)
    3. Category Certificate (if applicable)
    4. PwD Certificate (if applicable)
  2. Ensure images are clear and not blurred.

Step 5: Pay the Application Fee

  1. Pay the application fee using Credit/debit card, net banking or UPI.
  2. Fee varies by:
    1. Category (General/SC/ST/OBC)
    2. Number of papers (Paper 1/ Paper 2/ Both)
    3. Gender
  3. Save the confirmation page after successful payment.

Step 6: Download Confirmation Page

  1. After payment, download and print the confirmation page
  2. Save it for future reference.
