Exercise INDRA 2026
It’s a bilateral naval exercise between Indian Navy and Russian Navy. It will be held in Vladivostok, Russia from 13-18 October 2026. It was started in 2003.
Its objective is to enhance tactical coordination, maritime interoperability and share best practices between the two navies through harbor and sea phases.
The tri-service phase was started in October 2017 at the Eastern Military District in Russia.
Exercise KONKAN 2026
Its an annual bilateral naval exercise between Indian Navy and UK Royal Navy from 8-15 October 2026. It is being held of the coast Off Plymouth, United Kingdom. It was started in 2004.
The objective of the exercise is to enhance interoperability, tactical coordination, and operational understanding between the 2 navies.
There are 2 phases of the exercise: Harbour and Sea Phase.
Overcrowded migrant boat capsized off the coast of Djibouti (East Africa), near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
About Djibouti:
It is situated in the Horn of Africa region. Its capital is Dijbouti City.
Bordering countries: Eriteria, Ethiopia, Somalia.
It shares maritime boundaries with Gulf of Aden and Red Sea. It oversees Bab el-Mandeb Strait with Yemen.
Lake Assal: lowest point of Africa, a saline crater lake.
Gulf of Tadjoura: Dominant coastal gulf opening into the Gulf of Aden.
Mount Mousa Ali: highest point of Djibouti.
Bab el-Mandeb Strait: it’s a narrow water channel between Africa and Asia. It connects Red Sea with Gulf of Aden and India Ocean. Perim Island divides the water into two channels:
➢ Western Channel (Dact-el-Mayun)
➢ Eastern Channel (Bab Iskender)
Exercise Mountain Guardian 2026
It’s the inaugural edition of bilateral military exercise between Indian Army and UAE Army.
It is being held from 5-18 October 2026 at Foreign Training Node, Chaubatia, Uttarakhand.
India is represented by Bhairav Battalion and UAE is represented by Mountain Infantry Battalion.
Its Objectives are:
➢ Mountain warfare specialization
➢ Tactical drills and weaponry
➢ Modern technology integration
➢ Field Validation
RBI increased the daily Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) maintenance requirement for scheduled commercial banks from 90% to 99%, effective October 16.
Its objective is to manage liquidity management, absorb excess surplus from banking system and tighten short term money market conditions.
About Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR): it is the minimum percentage of bank’s total Net Time and Demand Liabilities required to be maintained in cash with the RBI. It is mandated under Section 42(1) of the RBI Act 1934.
