Campus Life
It is a 617 acre campus that was earlier a part of the Guindy National Park. The campus lies close to the Raj Bhavan which is the official seat of the Governor of Tamil Nadu. The nearest airport (Chennai Airport) is just 10 Km away and Chennai Central Railway Station is 12 Km away. The campus is a protected forest that is home to many animals like deer, black buck, Spotted deer, bonnet macaque, monkeys and many species of birds and other animals. MBA in IIT Madras follows a quarter system which is 2 quarters each with 7 subjects is equal to one semester. So things can get quite exhausting and challenging after all it is an MBA program. Since it is an IIT, courses related to Operations and Analytics are best but finance and marketing subjects are also good. You will have some of the best professors in this entire country, there is also one from MIT. The professors here have numerous paper citations and some of them are even considered among the best in the world. The best part is that most of the professors either run a startup or mentor, so there is a lot of learning outside the classroom. Professors are hardworking and would go to any extend to help you out. The department is open 24/7 and sometimes you would see them leave at 3 in the working. Talking about the curriculum of the course, it has been designed keeping in mind the dynamic business environment. Also, being an IIT, the MBA students get to develop a distinct capability in analytics and problem solving.
Even though the curriculum is hectic, the campus life is full of cultural and extra-curricular activities for holistic development of the students. There are clubs and committees to cater to every interest of the students in campus. DOMS IIT Madras is a place where students get a rich and valuable exposure to multiple avenues related to academics and co-curricular activities. Many events and fests take place throughout the year that trains the students leadership skills. The institute has an Olympic-standard swimming pool, a well-equipped gymnasium, IIT-Chemplast cricket ground, a vast stadium and a multipurpose indoor stadium are available for the students. The accommodation is also commendable with 20 hostels in campus out of which 5 are for female and 15 are for male students. The postgraduate students get a single sharing room. Each hostel has all the basic amenities like washing machine, sports facilities, recreational rooms etc. the campus does not allow the use of powered vehicles by students and hence are encouraged to use bicycles or on foot. This makes the campus an even nicer place to be.

The Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras has successfully completed its placement season with 100% placement. The institute received active participation from many companies across all domains. 42% of the batch received Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) with the highest CTC being 30.6 LPA and average CTC of 20.19 LPA. The highest CTC this year saw an increase of 20.95% compared to last year. Some of the roles offered were associate consultant, Data Scientist, Assistant Manager, Lead Consultant, Project Management, Associate Advisor, Product Supply Manager, Management Trainee etc. Accenture, Cognizant, Dell, Deloitte, Hexaware, Kantar, McKinsey & Company, Mahindra, Mphasis, Standard Chartered were some of the prominent recruiters.
