The curriculum is challenging and hectic. IIM Ahmedabad would teach you time management skills like no one else. The academic is demanding and rigorous with classes, assignments, projects, discussions, presentations and everything else. A normal day in the life of an MBA student starts a few minutes before the first class which is at 8: 45 am. The classes are of 75 minutes each and go on till 1:10 pm. Each class would require you to come prepared with readings and cases as IIM pedagogy puts heavy emphasis on class participation. The most dreaded part of the day is after classes while eating lunch in the mess. You would constantly be looking at your phone wishing you receive no mail from the PGP Office. Three or four times a week there will be a surprise quiz which you will get notified at 1:45 pm. If there is one, then you do not even have an hour to prepare for it because the quiz would be at 2:30. After you are back from the quiz, you will have to start prepping for the next day. If there is no quiz then you can get a few hours of sleep before your day actually begins. Now, you will not only have readings but also submissions for each class the next day. While you are doing this, you also need to work on your CVs, and attend company presentations, guest lectures and seminars. The tasks won’t end here, you will also have to work for your committees, clubs or any other responsibilities that you might have. The first part of the first year is the tensest period with committee selection, summer internship preparation, CV submission, Profile building, and not to mention academics. The competition is very high and hence to perform well in your academics and overall college life you will always have to be on your toes. The second year is comparatively more relaxed than the first year. The classes would take place according to your choice of electives and there won’t be many committee as juniors would take over. You will get more time to focus on your academics and make memories.
