Preparation Strategy for IPMAT Indore VARC Section

In this section we will understand you you can prepare for IPMAT VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) section, and score well in the IPMAT VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) section.

Understanding Reading Comprehension

Reading Comprehension is the most important part of the IPMAT VARC section. To do good here, you have to first build four essential skills. The first essential skill is higher retention and it accounts nearly 40% of your performance. That means that you must train yourself to remember what you read and RC passages contain details and arguments. The second very important factor is fast reading speed which contributes to your 30%. As the exam is time bound so it is important to read passages quickly without losing accuracy. Next skill is the ability to gauge the tone of the passage which is weighted at 20%.  Finally comes the Vocabulary part which makes up 10% of this section and it plays an important role in understanding phrases or words in the context.

Daily Practice Routine

Improvement in Reading Comprehension is not a one day task instead it requires consistency and a proper plan. An effective routine should be to read one to two articles every day from iQuanta’s genre-wise reading list. These articles will help you in various areas like economics, politics, literature, science as well as psychology. In addition to that it is also equally important to solve at least two RCs daily. These RCs can be taken from previous year IPMAT papers or from iQuanta’s assignments. By doing this consistently, you will not only strengthen your comprehension ability but instead help you to manage time properly in the exam.

How to Attempt the Questions

Knowing how to prepare properly is one part to start the process, but knowing how to attempt questions in the exam is equally important. The first rule is to prepare every question carefully while attempting the exam so that you will not misinterpret what is being asked actually. The second step is to look out for the easy questions first because this approach will help you to secure quick marks and save time. Now, when you encounter tough questions then the smart move is to simply use the elimination techniques.  Finally the important rule is to avoid making assumptions. RC questions are based on the passages provided to you and bring outside knowledge and interpretation to lead to the wrong answers. So by following the structured approach you will maximize your speed and accuracy.
