What Should Be Your CAT 2026 VARC Preparation in the Last 50 Days?

In the CAT exam, happening on 29  November 2026, you will get around 40 minutes to solve the VARC questions. Now the catch here is you need not to solve every question from the CAT 2026 VARC question paper. Your actual goal should be to select the right questions and answer them with 100% accuracy. 

If you still haven’t mastered this trick then it’s high-time that you focus on building your time-management and accuracy skills. In these 50 days of CAT preparation, your only priority should be to revise the high-weightage VARC topics first and practice questions within a strict time limit with high accuracy. 

Phase 1: Day 1 – Day 15 

  • Start your CAT preparation by doing a thorough reading everyday. Pick any editorial or article and read it dedicatedly for at least 30 minutes. Include regular RC practice in your schedule. Start with no time limit and then from next week, consider practising every RC under a 7-8 minutes of time limit. 
  • Also, practice VA questions during your CAT 2026 VARC preparation. For 30 minutes daily, practice the Fill in the Blanks, Off One Out and other questions. As there’s no negative marking for the TITA questions, attempt every question to develop familiarity with VARC exam pattern.
  • Attempt at least 1 sectional in a timespan of 40 minutes. This is the most important part and do not skip it during your CAT preparation. Moreover, start maintaining an error log too.

Phase 2: Day 16 – Day 30

  • The second stage will be mainly focused around practising the timed RCs. Don’t spend more than 5-6 minutes on one RC.
  • Check your error log and then start practising those Verbal Ability questions where you’re making the maximum number of mistakes. 
  • During this phase of your CAT 2026 VARC preparation, you must also focus on practising a minimum of two sectionals per week.

Phase 3: Day 31 – Day 42

  • In the second last leg, your aim should be to practice at least around 2-3 mocks per week. At this point, you must also master that in which order you will attempt the questions in the actual exam. 
  • Keep a habit of selecting the RC passages with a good mindset. As not all the RCs are equal, you must be aware of which RCs will lead to a quick solution and which might take time.
  • Simultaneously, utilize this CAT preparation stage to practice 2-3 mocks every week and analyse every mock test errors repetitively. 

Phase 4: Day 43 – Day 50

  • Focus on getting a proper sleep daily. Don’t rush more behind preparing for the CAT exam. Rather than that, relax and be proud of yourself that you have made it till the final preparation. 
  • Don’t practice any kind of full-length mocks at this CAT 2026 VARC preparation stage and spend more time with your friends and family. Keep yourself positive prior to the actual CAT exam.
