Sometimes things will not go as expected, especially when we are talking about a competitive examination like the Common Admission Test. But proper dedication, consistency and not skipping efforts will definitely pay off one day. That’s what happened with one of our iQuanta students, Rosan, whose determination of not letting down with LRDI blunders in the first attempt got him converted to one of the top MBA colleges in India, “MDI Gurgaon”.
This blog covers the detailed journey of a CAT topper and how his preparation of the CAT exam with iQuanta finally leads to the 99.10 percentile.

From 42%ile in CAT LRDI To 99.60%ile & Converted MDI Gurgaon
Starting with the academic qualification of a topper, he belongs to the GEM category and has a 9/8/9 profile. With this, he holds 2 years of work experience as an SDE. These academic requirements hold a strong value in terms of admission to the B-schools. But the first CAT attempt of a topper looks distorted because he prepared well, and the concepts are clear, but only left with getting 42 percentile in LRDI. One section completely affects the percentile in the first attempt, but later he took the difficult decision and planned to give a second attempt of the CAT exam.
That’s when actually iQuanta came into the picture and became a part of his journey. But this time, Rosan has worked more towards attempting more mocks (it could be around 40-45 mocks), detailed analysis of the mistakes he has made before and more calmness in the exam hall.
Finally, the dedicated effort paid off, and he has successfully scored 99.10 percentile with 99.60%ile in LRDI. Converting MDI Gurgaon is really not an easy task, but the toppers’ consistency is a true example of heading towards the dream, whatever is planned.
How iQuanta Helped Him in CAT Preparation (99.10%ile)?
Rosan already knew his concepts well but the first attempt showed him that knowing concepts alone is not enough. When he joined iQuanta for his second attempt the first thing that changed was how he approached LRDI as a section. The techniques he learned helped him stop guessing and start solving sets with a clear head.
The community was something he genuinely used. Posting doubts and getting replies at odd hours meant his preparation never hit a wall. A lot of students waste days stuck on one problem but that was not the case here.
What also changed was how seriously he took mock analysis. Earlier mocks were just for practice. With iQuanta he started treating every mock like a feedback report. After 40 to 45 mocks of doing that his weak spots started shrinking one by one. The LRDI jump from 42 percentile to 99.60 percentile came from this shift more than anything else.
Conclusion
Rosan sat for CAT twice. The first time one section pulled everything down. The second time he came back with a plan and executed it. That is really the whole story. A lot of people treat a bad first attempt like a final answer. Rosan treated it like information. He figured out what went wrong fixed it and showed up again. MDI Gurgaon is not a college that converts easily and getting there with a 99.10 percentile overall is proof that the second attempt done right can completely change where you end up.
If you are mid preparation or thinking about reappearing, just remember the attempt count does not matter as much as what you do between attempts.
