A regular day at the Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, is typically filled with a combination of academic classes, extracurricular activities, and networking opportunities. There are two batches of classes- one in the morning and the other in the evening post lunch. Classes normally start around 8-9 am in the morning for the first batch of classes. The classes go on till 1 pm when you can have your lunch between 1 to 2 pm post when the second batches of classes start. After the classes are over, you can rest for 1 to 2 hours if there are no interaction sessions scheduled with the industry stalwarts. In the evening after 5, you will need to finish your extra-curricular activities. Extra-curricular activities at SJMSOM include clubs, societies, and student-run initiatives. These activities are designed to foster leadership and teamwork skills, as well as provide opportunities for students to explore their interests outside of the classroom. After dinner, you will meet up with your assignment/project groups to discuss the submission and delegate the work. By the time all the deadlines are met, you will only get a few hours to sleep. There will be some days with a lesser number of submissions and those would be some lucky days! 

Networking opportunities at SJMSOM include events such as guest lectures, industry visits, and alumni meet-ups. These events provide students with the opportunity to connect with professionals from various industries and learn about different career paths. SJMSOM offers many opportunities for students to derive a rich industry experience like seminar series from Industry stalwarts which are focused on upcoming trends and future prospects for the students in the corporate world tomorrow. The global exposure that you will get in this institute is top-notch and probably the best in comparison to other B-schools. The MBA Batch of 2021-23 witnessed 100% placement with a batch size of 115. Many big firms from various sectors offered many roles to the students. The students bagged offers across various sectors such as BFSI, Conglomerate, Consulting, E-commerce, FMCG/FMCD, and IT/ITeS, among others. Students were offered the most sought-after profiles in Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Product Management, and Strategy, among others. Some of the top recruiters were DBS Bank, Edelweiss Alternative Asset Advisors, Fullerton India, ICICI Bank, Indus Valley Partners, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Nomura, Accenture, Amazon, EXL Analytics, Google, HCLTech, and Wipro among others.

Summer Placement

SJMSOM IIT Bombay successfully concluded its summer placement process for the MBA Batch of 2024. This placement season saw an increase of 26% in its average stipend compared to the previous year. 43% of the batch got roles in the FMCG and Manufacturing sector and 16% of them got placed in premiere IT and Consulting firms, while the rest of them got placed in other BFSI, Conglomerate, Healthcare, e-commerce among others.
